The Hong Kong Government has given its local Unicef branch $3 million to help flood victims across the border. The Hong Kong Committee of the United Nations Children's Fund aims to purchase water purification powder for victims in 15 flood-struck counties and train locals in water and sanitation management, spokeswoman Grace Yim said. Meanwhile, Medecins Sans Frontieres - granted nearly $5.4 million by the Government - have sent two additional relief teams to Hubei and Anhui following requests from provincial authorities. The Red Cross called for $5 million to supply water purification tablets, medicines, food and blankets. An earlier appeal in July raised $1.09 million.
