American hopes worse for the trip

THE American and French challengers for the International Races arrived yesterday with the American contingent looking much the worse for wear, writes Robin Parke.

Recent Group winner Charmonnier and Cozzene's Prince were in transit for 26 hours. A Jockey Club official said: ''They look rather knocked about.'' Race rider Mick Kinane also had a look at his International Bowl hope, the interesting Diamonds Galore.

The eight-year-old Canadian galloper flew in the previous day and Kinane looked him over after trackwork yesterday, saying: ''He seems to have travelled well''.
