A hi-tech exhibition at Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has illustrated the high level of co-operation among members of the International Strategic Technology Alliance (ISTA). Fourteen of the exhibits were developed in the last two years and most products have been successfully transferred to industry. They include an ECG system, X-ray digital imaging system, yarn production technology, fabric colour analysis system, high-valued feed additive and a system for treating industrial waste water. Alwin Wong Leung, head of industrial development (technology resources) at PolyU, said the innovations were the result of success ful collaboration. The ISTA, founded by the PolyU, helps to identify international market needs and matches them with the technological capability of the alliance. A non-profit consultancy, Technology and Consultancy Company (PTeC), was set up by PolyU to co-ordinate support and development for commerce and industry. ISTA has the support of mainland China's Ministry of Education to foster collaboration among member universities in the research, development and transfer of technologies and products that can be used or commercialised.
