A petition in favour of laws forcing financially able adults to support their parents has generated 2,000 signatures, organisers say. Provisional Urban Councillor Jennifer Chow Kit-bing said signatures had been collected on Hong Kong Island and through religious and other organisations. Ms Chow plans to submit the petition to Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa. If the law is created, she hopes it will be implemented from next March. A spokesman for Ms Chow said 60 to 70 per cent of the people who supported the petition were 30 or older.
