On two occasions recently, I took two of my children, aged seven and five, to UA Queensway to see Dr Dolittle and The Borrowers, both category I films.
On each occasion, we were subjected to a preview of an adult war film, Saving Private Ryan, scenes from which have reportedly reduced hardened army commanders to tears. The children in the audience were exposed to scenes of men being shot and blown up and of a frantic civilian couple desperately trying to persuade soldiers to get their screaming and terrified child to safety. In short, exactly the sort of thing I would not wish my children to see.
This is not the first time this has happened to me at UA cinemas.
Several months ago, we had to sit through a preview of Breakdown before a screening of Hercules.
Would the management of UA please explain why such patently unsuitable previews are shown before children's films.
