WHEN the Eye on Hongkong crew found itself in sunny California for 19 days, it was pleased to obtain an interview with actor Steven Seagal, the martial arts star of the recent box office hit Under Siege.
But little did they imagine the death of Brandon Lee would have Seagal's life in such a turmoil that he would have to cancel.
Then, days before the crew returned to Hongkong, Seagal called to reschedule his meeting with Eye on Hongkong presenter Valerie Chow.
Seagal discusses Lee's death in the ''Eye on California'' segment featured on this week's show.
''They went back a long way. He knew Bruce Lee and he told me a story that was quite touching,'' Eye on Hongkong researcher Wynne Cheung said.
''He said that one day, they were sitting around a coffee table which Brandon was running around, and Bruce said, 'Look at my little Caucasian son!' because Brandon had quite light hair. Then Seagal pinched his cheeks.'' At the time of the in terview Seagal was in the middle of being consulted on the death as an expert in the field.
