Epson has launched two new printers aimed at home-users and students - the Epson Stylus 440 and 640.
Both come with bundled software, including Epson Print Adventure Photo Sticker Edition, Epson Print Adventure Card Edition, LivePix Warner Brothers Special Edition and High Quality Images.
These are intended as basic consumer applications, which Epson hopes will attract users by allowing them to make greater use of printers.
The printers are upgrades to the 400 and 600 models. The 440 prints 17 per cent faster in black text, and 5 per cent faster in colour.
The 640 prints black text at five pages per minute (ppm), or 11 per cent faster than the 600. Colour printing is at 3.5 ppm, 14 per cent faster than the 600.
Both printers also have Epson PhotoEnhance 3, an extension to the previous version, which allows improvement to picture quality. This is useful particularly when printing pictures downloaded from the Internet, which may have lost sharpness. The 440 is priced at $1,168, while the 640 costs $1,728.
