With about 200 exhibitors at this year's expo, those who use information technology (IT) and enthusiasts looking for the latest products should pay it a visit.
Many exhibitors will be offering good discounts. An area which many exhibitors will focus is size and portability. Computers are getting smaller and thinner, notebooks are becoming sub-notebooks, mini notebooks and hand- held PCs.
Philips, for instance, will be promoting the VELO 500 which, it claims, is the most powerful hand-held PC on the market. It weighs about half kilogram, has a 75MHz MPS- based RISC processor, 16MB RAM, runs Windows CE 2.0 and has a range of optional extras. Weighing about 1 kg is the Palmax PD-1000 Mini-Notebook. It is less than half the size of a piece of A4 paper.
Distributed by South China House of Technology Consultants, the PD-100 incorporates a 133MHz processor, 16MB EDO RAM and up to 2.1GB hard disk drive and a 6.1-inch TFT active matrix colour VGA display and runs Windows 95.
Able System Development will be promoting the Mitsubishi Penion M3041, which is the slimmest notebook on the market.
Minolta will be using the expo to launch its PagePro series of laser printers and digital copiers, the first in a series.
