LinkAGE Online and School Net embark on education mission
For its first participation as an individual exhibitor in the expo, Hong Kong corporate Internet Services Provider (ISP) LinkAGE Online is embarking on an educational mission.
LinkAGE Online is announcing today, together with School Net, the setting up of School Internet Exchange (SIX), a network that plans to link most schools in Hong Kong.
LinkAGE is leveraging the experience in education of its mother company, PSINet, a major Internet service provider (ISP) in the US, which is also part of SIX.
Details of the partnership will be unveiled by School Net's chairman, Professor C. P. Wong, and Chin Man, president of LinkAGE Online, at a press conference at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. School Net is a network of students, teachers and schools that was set up in May in response to Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa's first Policy Address last year, calling for a progressive development of IT education over the next five years.
The network was set up and is managed by the department of information engineering at the Chinese University.
LinkAGE Online will hold two related on-site seminars during the expo. 'Internet for 21st century education' and 'Set up your Internet education environment for the Education of Hong Kong Information Technology' were prepared together with School Net and will be conducted by Professor Wong.
