The boy, who lives in Tuen Mun, showed symptoms of hand-foot-mouth disease and meningo-encephalitis when admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital last Thursday.
It was understood that he contracted the disease at a nursery in Tuen Mun. He was in stable condition last night.
A Department of Health spokesman said the nursery had been disinfected.
The boy was the third person to suffer neurological complications during this year's EV71 outbreak.
