Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) is releasing 490 more flats in its Scenic View project in Ngau Chi Wan, raising the total on sale today to 590. It said the extra units would be priced at an average of $3,487 per square foot, the same as for the initial 100 units on offer. The company has registered 583 prospective buyers in two days, and response to today's sale is expected to provide a barometer for home-buyer confidence. Estate agents said the registration response was encouraging and expected the units on sale would be well received. Midland Realty's Telford branch sales manager Jowin Lai predicted that 90 per cent of the units would be sold today. She said SHKP was likely to release for sale the remaining units in Scenic View, and potential buyers who had not registered in the past two days might turn up. Scenic View has 1,034 flats in four towers, of which 206 flats are available for internal sale. Agents said the internal sale response was good, but SHKP did not reveal the number of units sold internally. SHKP had planned to launch Scenic View on September 26, but brought the sale forward to take advantage of an improvement in market sentiment after the Government scrapped certain anti-speculation measures last weekend.
