Another toddler has developed serious complications from suspected enterovirus-71. A two-year-old girl was admitted to Kwong Wah Hospital with symptoms of the hand-foot-mouth disease which then developed into meningitis. She is now in a stable condition, as is the three-year-old boy found to have meningo-encephalitis when he was treated at Princess Margaret Hospital last week. Both are suspected to have contracted the potentially deadly EV71 but there were no initial signs of a connection between the cases.
