Wing Lung Bank and Visa International yesterday launched a Visa Gold affinity card with the Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS). Roger Lee, head of card holder marketing at Wing Lung Bank, said the card was the 12th affinity card issued by the bank, reflecting concern about bad debts and desire to target professionals. The HKCS is a non-profit professional body to promote information technology in Hong Kong. It has 2,000 members and Wing Lung hopes to issue cards to about half of them in the first six months. Ivanov Yim Wei-hung, Visa International's country manager for greater China, said that despite the economic downturn, sales volume on Visa cards had risen 17 per cent to US$11 billion in the half to June.
