Actress and singer Karen Mok loves animals so much she has been named Ambassador for Animals for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Karen, pictured with her Maltese terrier, Wong-wong, said she enjoyed unwinding by playing with her canine companion. 'I even take her to the studio sometimes and when I fly off, she comes to the airport to see me off,' says Karen, who has been living in Taiwan for the past year. Karen also has a dog in Hong Kong called Inu, a stray which followed her home one day. She has also found time to film a video aimed at raising funds for the SPCA's redevelopment of its Kowloon centre. However, filming for the big screen is on hold as Karen says the movie industry is going through a rough patch. Of her 17 movies, she is most proud of The God of Cookery, for which she received two nominations for best actress. But she still keeps herself busy with commercials and her latest Putonghua album, I Say, has sold more than a million copies in Taiwan. 'When I was at school, I would set myself goals at different stages. Now, however, I just prepare myself for any opportunity that comes along and hope for the best,' she says.
