The mainland's two most influential media, People's Daily and China Central Television (CCTV), have teamed up to do joint reports on official corruption in an effort to step up their supervision of the Government.
They would probe 'social dilemmas and hot issues' and report them simultaneously to arouse greater attention, Xinhua reported.
People's Daily is the mouthpiece of the Communist Party, while CCTV has about 800 million viewers across the mainland.
In a trial run, People's Daily and CCTV reported on Wednesday on illegal fund-raising by a local anti-graft bureau in Jiangxi.
The bureau's top departments and local procuratorate had decided to deal with the case after it was exposed by the media, Xinhua said.
'This co-operation demonstrates our determination to carry out supervision of the Government in an all-round way and at a higher level,' said Sun Jie, a producer at CCTV.
