After a quiet summer for new advertising agency business, the past week provided a windfall as several major accounts were awarded. DMB&B beat three agencies - including Dentsu Young & Rubicam, and Bozell Hong Kong - to win the Cafe de Coral account, valued at $30 million in billings annually. Euro RSCG was the incumbent. 'This is an important account for us because it is a well-recognised local name,' DMB&B managing director Mark Ingrouille said. 'Its importance is greater than its billing.' Elsewhere, Leo Burnett has been appointed by Swire Properties to provide a new look for the relaunch of its Citiplaza shopping mall in Taikoo Shing for late next year. Allen Chichester, chairman of Leo Burnett Greater China, attributed the win to extensive consumer research - finding out what the public wanted from the mall. DDB has won an account with Pearl & Dean, the company that handles all advertising for the Mass Transit Railway Corporation and the Airport Express Line. The account, which had been held by J Walter Thompson for the past 15 years, involves strategic and creative duties. It is valued at between $5 million and $10 million in billings annually, according to industry sources. J Walter Thompson has been appointed agency-of-record for Citic Ka Wah Bank and has picked up a local account for New York Life Insurance.
