GUANGZHOU authorities have arrested a Hongkong man for operating an illegal casino in a hotel room, according to the semi-official China News Service. Quoting the Guangzhou Daily, the report said armed police wearing bullet-proof vests stormed the room early on Saturday morning. Police arrested about 20 people, confiscated more than 110,000 yuan (about HK$148,170), five mobile telephones, 15 pagers, gambling equipment and an unspecified amount of heroin. The report said the customers were being notified of the venues for gambling through pagers.
