Socialite Theresa Po Lau is selling part of her jewellery collection to lead a simpler life. Ms Po, 44, who recovered from breast cancer and lymphoma three years ago, denied the move was related to her health or finances. Sixty pieces of jewellery are to be sold, with a single-stone 66.4-carat star sapphire ring and a 55-diamond necklace among the highlights. The collection, with an estimated value of $55 million, will go under the hammer at Christie's in Hong Kong in November. 'I have a private collection of some 300 pieces of jewellery,' the divorced mother of two said. 'The 60 pieces are those I seldom wore or never touched at all.' She said over the past few years she had reduced socialising and decided she wanted to lead a more simple life. 'Now I like to wear Giordano jeans and Gap sweaters, although Chanel is still my favourite brand,' she said. The items to be auctioned are mostly presents given to her by her ex-husband, Thomas Lau Luen-hung, executive director of Chinese Estates.
