This year, the Australian dollar plunged to a 12-year low. For Hong Kong students this translates into one thing - value for money. IDP Education Australia spokesman Goh Yeun Yeun said: 'This situation represents a window of opportunity to make considerable savings by applying to study now. 'While education in Australia has always been competitively priced, this quality education is now within the reach of many more students.' Ms Goh said recent studies by IDP Education Australia and the Department of Employment, Education, Training and Youth Affairs found that the costs of higher education courses in Australia made study in the United States or Britain seem expensive options by comparison. According to the department's study last year, fees for an undergraduate business programme in Australia ranged from $41,470 to $51,604. However, according to Ms Goh, fees and living costs have fallen by a further 20 per cent. A similar course in Britain would cost between $70,038 and $82,943. In the US, students would pay around $68,000 at a public university and an average of $153,000 at private universities.
