Andrew Cheng Kar-foo has pledged to push for a 20-minute rest break for every five hours' work if the Government does not accept his proposal.

Another private member's bill being considered is suspending work during black rainstorms or the hoisting of typhoon signal No 8.

The Labour Advisory Board has yet to decide on rest breaks after meeting twice.

Ho Sai-chu said this should be dealt with flexibly.

'Some are used to a tea break at 3.15pm while others may think a longer lunch break is better. Every industry has its own characteristics,' he said.

He also expressed reservations about suspending work during rainstorms or typhoons.
