Angry owners of flats at a new Housing Society project have demanded urgent repairs to their homes, claiming the fitting out was a shambles. About 40 households at Marina Habitat, a Sandwich Class Housing Scheme estate in Ap Lei Chau which was finished on Monday, claim their flats are smaller than advertised. 'However, when we were doing the measurements ourselves last night, we also found that in some of the flats the internal decoration was not up to standard, especially on the walls and ceilings,' Democrat Gary Fan Kwok-wai said. Mr Fan said legislator Lee Wing-tat would try to arrange a meeting with Housing Society executive director Victor So Hing-wo today. Staff from the Democratic Party and flat owners will this afternoon also record the flats' conditions on video to use as evidence to push for repairs. Mr Fan said a questionnaire would be given to other flat-owners asking for their comments. The Housing Society has said it is satisfied with the outcome of its own random measuring on Thursday. It was unavailable for comment on the latest claims last night.
