Sex not always the cause of crisis

DR Rose Ong (South China Morning Post, April 6) offers sound advice to the person requesting help to solve a sexual problem in her relationship.

As a marriage counsellor I have discovered that sex is not often the overriding problem in a relationship, but it frequently surfaces as a contributing factor in most marital distress.

A significant percentage of such problems is the consequence of ignorance and misinformation.

It has been demonstrated that while some people may need in-depth therapy for specific problems, many couples can be helped through effective counselling.
