Forest group in ship contract

Finnish forest industry group UPM-Kymmene has set up a shipping co-operation deal with Dutch Spliethoff to serve the North American market.

Spliethoff will commission 10 multi-purpose side-loader ships with a capacity of about 17,000 tonnes of paper or 18,000 tonnes of china clay, investing about US$320 million in the vessels. UPM will use four to six of them.
