Coach puts the blame on just one man

Instant-Dict coach Koo Luam-khen said they were defeated by one man - Carlos Dunga.

Koo made his comment after Instant's 3-0 defeat by Jubilo Iwata in last night's Asian Club Championship first round, first-leg tie.

'Dunga scored with a spectacular free-kick in the first half and caused the referee to send one of our men off in the second half,' said Koo.

'If we had 11 players until the end, the result could have been different.' Instant-Dict defender Chan Chi-kwong was given his marching orders after a second bookable offence in the 58th minute when he tackled Dunga.

'I think Dunga cheated and the referee believed him,' Koo added.

Jubilo Iwata coach Valmir Louruz backed the South Korean referee on Chan's sending-off.

But Louruz said: 'I don't think the referee could see what had happened.

'He gave the red card because he saw Dunga falling down and screaming.

'I think he made the right decision and I'm not saying it because we won the game.' Instant-Dict skipper Dimitre Kalkanov said some of the tackles towards the end of the game were unneccessary.

'There were a lot of stupid tackles especially in the last 10 minutes because the game was decided,' said the former Bulgarian international.

'The result was a good one for us because we had expected something worse.

'We lost our concentration after the sending-off and we lost two goals within three minutes.' Louruz was surprised by Instant-Dict's performance, saying: 'The Hong Kong champions imposed a lot of pressure on us.

'I was surprised that we could score three goals because I was thinking it would be difficult to score one earlier in the match.' The Dickies could hold their heads high after the defeat - not only because they performed well but because Jubilo had six Japanese internationals in the game.

Seven of the Jubilo players have been called up to the Japanese national squad for December's Asian Games.

Veteran striker Masashi Nakayamawas ruled out by injury. The six other national squad members are: defender Toshihiro Hattori; midfielder Hiroshi Nanami; midfielder Toshiya Fujita defender Makoto Tanaka; midfielder Takashi Fukunishi; and young forward Daisuke Oku.
