Pay cut 'to raise morale'

Commuters in Tsuen Wan were inconvenienced for more than five hours yesterday as 30 drivers of green minibuses went on strike over a proposal to cut their pay.

The drivers said that the operator, Chit Fai Motor, wanted to cut their income by 7.8 per cent for day shifts and 10.9 per cent for night shifts.

A company spokesman said: 'This is not a wage cut. It is a move to raise their morale, so they can work harder to earn even more.'
