The media watchdog has refused to take action against ATV over its skimpy Miss Asia pageant promotions despite a flood of complaints.
The Broadcasting Authority said yesterday it could find nothing indecent, pornographic or denigrating in the station's semi-final featuring swimsuit-clad contestants and models frolicking in a pool.
This was despite receiving 220 complaints about promotions for the pageant and a show on TVB.
Instead, the authority said the televised Miss Asia programme had met with censorship requirements.
'We have seen a video of the programme and found that the contest was no different to any other beauty contest,' complaints committee chair Joyce Tai Poon Ching-sheung said.
The semi-final also featured members of Japan's Bikini Club cavorting in a swimming pool and playing games, which was also found not to breach standards.
