Blaming the current Hong Kong pollution crisis on the mainland simply will not do.
Are we seriously to believe that swathes of toxic air, labelled 'Causeway Bay' and 'Mongkok' are winging their way straight to the roadside monitoring stations? Apart from the pollution caused by moving vehicles, the fumes from idling engines are appalling.
In Sha Tin alone, hundreds of vehicles adopt this unnecessary habit every day, some for more than one hour while the drivers sleep. Commercial vehicles and buses are as much to blame as taxis.
Until Hong Kong wakes up and realises that pointing the finger elsewhere is not the answer, we will continue to breathe filthy air and ruin what was a beautiful place for future generations.
