Siemens Buildings Technologies has openings for seven technical positions as the company expands its operations following the 1996 acquisition of the Swiss-based Electrowatt Group.
When the German industrial giant Siemens AG successfully orchestrated a takeover bid for CS Holding's share in the Electrowatt Group for 2.5 billion Swiss francs (about HK$14 billion) in December 1996, it acquired a diverse group of 300 companies with business in 50 countries, specialising in buildings and power.
Through the sale, Siemens acquired Electrowatt's industrial activities which included Landis & Staefa, one of the world's largest building controls supply companies.
According to industry analysts, the takeover brought Siemens a variety of research and development advantages as well as increasing its manufacturing and service base.
Siemens Building Technologies is one of 16 group companies owned by the US$65 billion corporation, encompassing Cerberus, a security engineering technology company, Landis & Staefa and two other divisions.
Monika Sturm, Siemens general manager of marketing, said with the addition of sector leaders Landis & Staefa and Cerberus and Siemens' activities in building and security systems, the company now covered all relevant areas of building technology.
