They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach.
Well, the Jockey Club may not have caused any great increase in cardiac rates, but they certainly provided a successful breakfast barrier trial session yesterday at Happy Valley.
And not only did the large number of attendees walk away with full stomachs, there were future winners galore in the six trials conducted on the 'C+6' course.
Heading the list was the highly credentialled Alf, who took the final heat in good style for Club jockey Robbie Fradd.
The three-year-old is not a big horse but he is strong and compact and appears to have what matters most - an engine.
Alf won the Group One AJC Sires Produce Stakes at Randwick in his last Australian start and jumped brilliantly yesterday to lead in the early stages before Fradd allowed him to stay wide on the track as Born To Win railed to lead clearly into the straight.
