CHINA would continue to co-operate with Hongkong in cracking down on the criminal activities of triads, Interpol chief Mr Zhu Entao said after the latest round of talks with Police Commissioner Mr Li Kwan-ha. Mr Li and his delegation arrived in Beijing yesterday to start the 17th bilateral meeting of the two sides. Seeking to dispel local concerns about remarks made by Public Security Minister Mr Tao Siju last week that triad members were patriotic, Mr Zhu stressed that all criminal syndicates and individuals would be dealt with severely. He said China's three principles on Hongkong triads remained unchanged: they could not commit crimes in the mainland; those who committed crimes in Hongkong would not be allowed to flee to the mainland; and they could not recruit members there. Mr Li said both sides discussed general crime fighting issues and exchanged information on particular cases.
