Palm Beach Gardens, Florida: Mark O'Meara, who claimed two of golf's four Major championships in 1998, capped off a spectacular year by clinching the PGA of America Player of the Year Award.

 The Masters and British Open champion, who picked up the World Matchplay title on Sunday, finished ahead of David Duval in the contest for the prestigious honour awarded by the PGA of America since 1948.
