Fashion chain G2000 is planning to cut wages for the second time in three months, blaming deteriorating sales.
But this time the move would only hit office, warehouse and management staff who were unaffected last time, a company official said yesterday.
Executive director Peter Ho Hung-chu said the company asked its 380 non-sales staff to consider pay cuts ranging from eight per cent for general office and warehouse staff to 10 per cent for supervisors or executives and 12 per cent for directors, like Mr Ho.
In July, the firm imposed 12 to 13 per cent pay cuts on 550 frontline workers.
The additional pay cuts were necessary as the company's sales continued to fall, Mr Ho said.
'We have dropped by 25 to 30 per cent compared with last year. We don't see a quick recovery in the fashion retail market,' he said.
