Former prisoner of war and veterans' campaigner Jack Edwards yesterday vowed to continue his fight to have the Chinese and SAR flags raised daily at the Cenotaph in Central.

Mr Edwards, 80, said locals and visitors to Hong Kong asked him why the Cenotaph had been bare since the handover.

'People would walk past and look . . . and they would think: 'The Government says it's not appropriate'.

'But why is that? Is it not appropriate to remember the dead?'
