Customs boost for Tuen Mun river-trade terminal extension

The Customs and Excise Department will boost staff when the Tuen Mun River Trade Terminal (RTT) phase two is completed in November next year.
The Tuen Mun terminal has had 51 officers since it opened on October 14.
RTT division commander, Assistant Superintendent Wong Man-chiu, said another 85 officers would be posted to RTT when phase two was completed.

RTT was built to meet anticipated growth in river-trade cargo traffic and to boost productivity, he said.
Services include cargo examination, cargo appointment, ship search, ship store checking and terminal patrol.

He said the terminal provided a 16-hour service which would be extended 24 hours.
