The participation rate at Tin Shui Wai Government Secondary School was at 87.6 per cent, with 15 Form Four and Form Six students competing for 10 positions.

There was a common theme - 'To build a new environment, vote!' The contestants set up different 'political' groups and designed banners and leaflets to attract their schoolmates' attention.

They even used the morning assembly to 'woo the voters'. However, exhibition boards displaying the contestants' names and policies proved to be the most eye-catching.

The student helpers were courteous on election day as they strived to make the event a success.

'I'm really satisfied with the voter turnout,' Fung Sung-tak, the union's teacher-in-charge, said. 'It seems to me that most of the students support this activity.' There was a buzz of excitement as the results were announced.
