A top Government official has praised a programme for promoting all-round development among youngsters.
Director of Home Affairs Shelley Lau Lee Lai-kuen said the Hong Kong Award For Young People showed that success could be achieved through dedication.
She was speaking at a ceremony where 208 youngsters received the Silver Award after taking part in a series of activities to test their abilities.
The scheme, formerly known as The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, aims to cultivate a sense of achievement among young people throughout the world and encourage them to use their spare time meaningfully.
To gain the award, young people have to participate in a range of activities, including service, expeditions, physical recreation and skills.
Mrs Lau said the partici pants had shown how to strive for success in the face of adversity.
