Concert treat The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra is off to Amsterdam and Rotterdam this month after a Dutch artistic director found he could not shake off the memory of a concert they gave a decade ago.
The Festival of Contrasts celebrates 40 years of the Praemium Erasmianum Foundation set up by Prince Bernhard, Queen Juliana's husband, to promote Dutch culture.
In their concerts on November 15 and 16 the orchestra will play traditional and Chinese music pieces, including the popular Ambush From All Sides, and the world premiere of a work by composer Xu Shuya.
The first of the concerts will be in the main hall of the prestigious Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
