I hold a Nepalese passport and live in Macau. I am a holder of a Macau identity card.
Last month I went back to Nepal for a holiday. I was supposed to return to Macau on October 31, via Hong Kong, but then I learned that the HKSAR Government had changed its visa system with regard to Nepalese passport holders.
I only learned about this change on October 24 and was told that to process a visa would take me one month. I therefore had to cancel my return ticket to Hong Kong.
I called the Hong Kong Immigration Department from Kathmandu. Officials could not assure me that I would be allowed into Hong Kong. As I had to report to work on November 1, I had to buy a new plane ticket to Macau via Bangkok, which was expensive.
Could the Immigration Department in Hong Kong please clarify my status. I occasionally visit Hong Kong from Macau and I would like to know what, if any, visa problems I can expect to encounter.
