I'm feeling fine, says six-year-old chop attack victim

The six-year-old girl badly injured in Tuesday's chopping attack which left her mother and three-year-old brother dead was last night out of danger in hospital.

Fung Yuen-ying, who dialled 999 despite suffering head wounds from the attack in Temple Street, Yau Ma Tei, has been moved from intensive care to a paediatric ward.

She played with three schoolmates who visited her with a teacher yesterday and told reporters: 'I'm feeling well.' Holding the hand of her father and with her head still heavily bandaged, she said: 'This is my father, he's with me all the time. I'm happy,' she said with a smile, adding that she was having fun in her friends' company.

Yuen-ying has been receiving counselling in hospital. Her father, Fung Chi-min, 40, said: 'She is calmer now. Everyone is trying to help her forget that day.' Brother Fung Wai-lok and mother Tse Hang-king, 35, died during a dispute with a co-tenant.

A man has been charged with murder.
