A police officer was involved in an illegal operation to secure Japanese visas, a court heard yesterday. Constable Mak Kin-ming, 26, faces one charge of using a false employment letter to obtain a visa from the Japanese Consulate. He was one of 10 people facing related charges in Eastern Court yesterday. Merchant Choy Lim-shun, 54, faced 10 charges, including possessing identity cards relating to another person, possessing an unlawfully obtained travel document and making false company chops. Eight other people faced charges including dishonestly obtaining services and aiding and abetting the making of a false representation. No pleas were taken and bail was extended for all 10 defendants. Magistrate Garry Tallentire adjourned proceedings until Wednesday.
