Thanksgiving with the trimmings

Next Thursday is Thanksgiving, and Americans in Hong Kong will be on the prowl for turkey dinners.

The American Pie Thanksgiving dinner is available from November 20 to 28, and every couple ordering the three-course set meal will receive a complimentary pecan pie to take home.

The dinner includes choice of turkey, grilled New York sirloin steak or pan-fried trout for $275 per person. Call 2877-9779.

Pomeroy's in Pacific Place has a buffet, with roast turkey and ham, stuffing, potatoes and desserts, for $190. Call 2523-4772.

California restaurant offers a choice of turkey or rib-eye steak, with sourdough stuffing, potatoes, breads and corn muffins, for $285. Phone 2521-1345.

The Bayou offers a feast that includes Cajun fried turkey with gravy, cornbread or oyster dressing and stuffed prawns for $325. Call 2526-2118.

The Ritz-Carlton has a Thanksgiving buffet including roast turkey and ham with all the trimmings, plus casseroles, vegetables and desserts. The dinner is $390 ($195 for children under 12), with music by the choir from the Hong Kong International School. Call 2801-7118.

JJ's at the Grand Hyatt has a 'Funky Thanksgiving' with music and turkey buffet for $225 net. Call 2588-1234 ext 7323.

The Peninsula has Thanksgiving dinners in Felix and the Verandah. Celebrate at Felix for $240 for three courses from the early-dining menu (order before 7pm), and for $420 as a set menu after 7pm. The Bostonian at the Great Eagle Hotel has a set dinner for $350, which includes a choice for main course of Atlantic salmon with shrimp or turkey with chestnut stuffing. Call 2375-1133 ext 2070.

The menu at the 27 Restaurant in the Park Lane Hotel has a choice for main course of turkey with cornbread stuffing or grilled venison medallions. It is $348 for three courses and $398 for four. Phone 2890-3355.

Golden Leaf at the Conrad has a special menu matching Cantonese food with French wine until November 24, featuring vintages from Les Domaines Baron de Rothschild. The five-course dinner is $980; call 2521-3838 ext 8280.

The New World Renaissance Hotel has a Chinese food-meets-Italian wine dinner tonight at Dynasty restaurant, with wines from the Masi vineyard, in the Veneto region. The five-course dinner includes four wines, cognac and cigars for $880. Call 2734-6600.

Tonight, the Ritz-Carlton has a tasting of eight ports not yet available in Hong Kong, followed by a four-course Portuguese dinner by visiting chef Miguel Castro e Silva. The dinner includes four wines and two ports, plus cigars. The event is $680, call 2877-6666.

Yesterday was the release of Beaujolais Nouveau, and this seasonal wine is available now at supermarkets and wine shops throughout the SAR.
