Three university students ordered to stop running their union because of their poor academic performance yesterday pledged to fight the ruling.
They said they would take their cases to a general students' meeting next week and let members decide their fate.
The Baptist University's Student Affairs Office last week ordered the union executives to quit because they had failed to pass their Grade Point Average.
The students are union president Yip Yiu-bong, external vice-president Wong Wing-hong and university affairs secretary Low Po-man.
The office said it followed the Manual of Student Activities , which states that 'only full-time students with a cumulative overall GPA of two or above should be eligible to run for or hold office'.
Director of Student Affairs Dr Eddie Ho Kang-wai said yesterday the rule had been in force for a long time and the university had to follow it.
