South Korea's Hanjin Shipping has opened a container terminal in Kaohsiung occupying 190,432 square metres, with 10 straddle carriers and a designed handing capacity of 430,000 teu (20 ft equivalent units) a year.
The facility has a 320-metre berth with a water depth alongside of 15 metres.
Hanjin said the terminal was the result of direct investment of 'tens of millions of dollars' in the past 2.5 years.
The terminal has a six-lane gate entrance with a computerised operation system installed to automate gate activity and equipment movement for efficient terminal operations.
The terminal also is equipped to handle 348 refrigerated containers.
In addition to Kaohsiung, Hanjin has a global network of dedicated terminals in Long Beach, Pusan, Osaka, Tokyo, and Seattle.
