A Snoopy thief was ordered to seek psychological help yesterday by a magistrate who said it was irrational for a grown man to be unable to resist stealing the toys.

Security guard Mok Chi-keung, 25, stole 21 McDonald's Snoopys - seven short of the entire collection - from staff desks and drawers while working a night shift at offices in Quarry Bay.

'It is very difficult to comprehend. You are not a child, but much too obsessed with toys,' Magistrate Garry Tallentire told Mok in Eastern Court.

Mr Tallentire put the security guard on probation for 12 months and ordered him to receive regular psychological treatment.

The magistrate said a report on Mok revealed he had had an unhappy childhood after his parents divorced and that he had psychological problems.

Mok pleaded guilty on November 2 to 10 charges of theft.
