THE famous Rossetti design studio in Parabiago, Milan, predicts: the return of the sandal. In a burst of inspiration, Rossetti has created sandals in a multitude of designs, fabrics, textures, details and varying heel heights. All these are to match the sexy, sultry, stripped down, bared flesh summer fashions of both day and night. The new Rossetti creations provide for more glamour, seduction and fantasy. Rossetti begins with a net design of wide, woven sandals in high and low heels in black, gold and natural sand to complete the evening elegance; a backless block heeled mule with thick cross bar in sand, navy, black or mimosa in silk to invoke new luxury. Silk is also used in stunning red or mimosa, high-heeled sandals with cross straps and side buckle. For the hippy inclined, Rossetti has recreated mules in silver or gold with toe loops and wedge espadrille heels; also sling-back Roman sandals in tan leather with multi-coloured beads. Sandal colours are jade, fuschia, ochre or French navy. Responding to the call of the wild are Rossetti's snakeskin brown and open-front sandals with sling-back and loop details - very chic and comfortable. For the more classic, there are black, fine woven leather ankle boots; tan and navy leather loafers. Also, new are Rossetti's suede and leather handbags in bucket style and Kelly bag designs - in pink, blue suede, navy or black leather. For men, Rossetti has whipped up the Flexa Executive - waterproof leather shoes in mahogany which are a masterpiece of technical innovation. The wraparound, anti-slip sole provides for maximum stress absorbency, better thermal insulation and greater comfort, softness and exact fit. Also fresh are the Rossetti Artisan designs for ankle boots in woven leather, and punched tan leather and natural canvas brogues. For yachting, Rossetti has loafers with gold buckles in navy and white, lined with soft towelling. A certain world walks in Rossetti shoes and no wonder: the Rossetti shoe details are distinctive. Five designers create designs that are perfect mates in comfort and classic styling. More than 200,000 pairs are produced each year at the Rossetti shoe centre in Parabiago near Milan. Only the best leather from Europe is used for the 400 designs created each year. The story of Rossetti began with Renzo Rossetti, who learned the secrets of Veronese hand-made shoes first-hand from his best friend's father, a great Milanese shoemaker. Renzo was only 13 years old when he started trailing the old man around to learn the craft. Today, Renzo is chairman of the 40,000-square-metre factory he owns in Parabiago Plain, which he founded with his brother. Rossetti began with men's shoes before advancing to the women's collection. Today, the range of men and women Rossetti shoes goes beyond the classic black or dark brown lace ups and is making fashion inroads with its exclusive moccasins and with annual new inspirations that are sporting and elegant - pure comfort, quality and fashion.
