Victims of the Yunnan earthquakes are being helped by members of Oxfam Hong Kong who are working in the disaster- stricken area. Oxfam started to prepare relief measures immediately after two quakes hit the area last week as one of its development projects is based around Ninglang where it is liaising with local government officials. More Oxfam Hong Kong staff have arrived in Ninglang to help people in Lanniqing village, the most damaged area. Staff will visit every village in the area to plan the distribution of quilts and blankets, tents, medicine and food. Most of the victims are sleeping outside in freezing temperatures and snow because they are worried about the danger of aftershocks. Oxfam Hong Kong is appealing for donations to help families who are devastated by the quakes. A donation hotline has been set up on 2520-2525.
