First-week sales of the new album by country music superstar Garth Brooks broke records set by the rock band Pearl Jam and singer Whitney Houston.

Garth Brooks Double Live sold 1,085,373 copies in the week following its November 17 release, Bill Kennedy of Capitol Nashville said.
Seattle rockers Pearl Jam held the record for a debut week with 950,378 copies of Vs. in 1993.
Houston held the record for albums sold in any week, set in 1992 by the soundtrack to The Bodyguard with sales of 1,061,000.
