V2 launches into innovative season
GIANNI Versace is packing a colourful punch into his ''younger'' collection - softening classic themes with a mix of designs, lines and accessories.
Feminine and waist-clinching, jackets are long and tailored to follow the body's contour, accentuating the waist and skimming the hips where they open with decisive splits and cuts.
Dresses and tunics caress the body down to the waist before blossoming to the ankle with high slits.
Trousers are lots of fun, thigh-clinging and flared at calf level - re-interpreting the bell-bottom look.
Fabrics are cool and float-like - crepe, light wool, cotton-satinette and stretch cotton. Organza and soft lace are the perfect choice for the more unusual lines.
Colours are strong and summery for day wear, while black and white are the protagonists in the evening.
Prints see the coupling of big flowers with the marine theme. Provence springs to mind with the small romantic flower prints punctuated with unexpected bold stripes.
Accessories are sprinkled with gold - precious incisions on belts, chain necklaces and details on all articles.
The collection prints are picked up with the use of the same fabrics for the wooden and thong sandals.
The V2 collection from Versace is strong and fresh, combining perfectly proportioned clothing classics with an innovative twist.
Silhouettes take on updated shoulder lines and a softer point of view. The one-or three-button single-breasted and double-breasted jackets are all unlined, emphasising the lighter shapes.
Fashion shades this season consist of various tones of yellow, orange, pistachio or lilac, teamed with classic colours - white, black, red, cornflower-blue, anthracite grey, olive and a palette of natural hues.
Jackets and suits have dynamic backgrounds in relief or jacquards with pin-striped, Prince of Wales styles or new monotones.
Jacket fabrics are silk, silk and wool mix, or cotton crepe. Sporty jackets interplay white and black.
Front pleats add movement to trousers and come in various plain colours, essential for the summer - cool wool-crepe, linen and cotton or micro-patterned fabrics in strong fashion tones matched with black.
Knitwear, which made its debut in the collection with enormous success last winter, is back with an even wider range of proposals.
Plain polo sweaters and the new cardigan and turtleneck styles appear in wool and cotton mix.
V2 features exciting design proposals for the multi-coloured cotton knits. The easily identifiable Versace optical pattern crops up in cotton jerseys.
