Favourite book: Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China by Jung Chang, whom I had the pleasure to meet once at a lunch in Hong Kong. Being just a little younger than Chang, I often wondered if my fate would have turned out like hers had my parents chosen to stay in China after they fled there during the Japanese occupation. Magazine: Reading the Ming Pao Weekly every Sunday has been a habit for 30-odd years, even during the 1970s when I worked in London. Its contents, which some may consider gossipy, are still far more reliable than most other local magazines. Film: Sense and Sensibility, written and acted by Emma Thompson, based on the Jane Austen novel. As much as it's a real joy to watch, I have always admired Thompson's artistry and intelligence. She's a very special woman. CD: Anything by Four Play. My husband and I have been glued to the group's soothing and modern sort of fusion jazz since we first heard its song, Between the Sheets, at a dinner during a holiday in Langkawi, Malaysia. Car: I'm not one for speed at all and prefer cars such as Mercedes or Volvo, inside which I feel comfortable and secure. Place to take a guest in Hong Kong: Watching the races from the Jockey Club's members' box is always a pleasant and exciting way to spend the evening. Guests always find the amount of money bet on horses unbelievable. Way to keep fit: Playing golf is one of the most entertaining ways to train both the body and mind. I also like doing gentle yoga to stretch my body. Way to spend a Sunday: Golfing during the day and having dinner with our golf mates at the club we belong to, whether we're staying at our Hong Kong, London or Sydney home. Holiday destination: Tahiti, where I went 15 years ago. I love its peace and beauty. People there, 10 per cent of whom are of Chinese origin, are laid back and very musical. And the food - an interesting mix of French and Polynesian - is superb. Scent: Even having given up coffee two years ago during my fight against breast cancer, I still love its aroma, especially when brewed with vanilla beans - a popular way to drink coffee in Tahiti. Cosmetic/beauty product: Swiss Perfection, a brand targeted at slightly mature ladies like me. It does help me a great deal with lines, especially when I play golf a lot. I like the eye cream best. Accessory: Earrings - I have more than 100 pairs. I always wear earrings despite my husband preferring my ears unadorned. Hairdresser: Rodger Craig - he had been my regular for 20 years until he left Hong Kong five years ago. Now Chris, who used to work with him, cuts my hair. Meal: I like imaginative vegetarian dishes that are not served to imitate meat dishes. The best is a lasagne made of layers of thinly-sliced carrots instead of pasta. But I'm not a vegetarian. Restaurant: Manoir aux Quatre Saisons, a French restaurant in Oxfordshire, England, operated by famous French chef Raymond Blanc. The beauty of the place is that all the vegetables and herbs served there are grown in Blanc's own garden. Alcoholic drink: I'm teetotal. The only time I used to drink alcohol was a few sips for the New Year, which sent me to sleep immediately, so I don't bother anymore. Shop: Any Marks and Spencer food hall for its immaculately-prepared fresh ingredients and high quality ready-made meals. They certainly add to the joys of my annual summer stay in London. Artist: Barbra Streisand, whose chest tones are amazingly clear. Her singing seems entirely effortless - it's just out of this world. Designer: Local designer Benny Yeung. He has saved me a great deal of precious walking time, which I would prefer to spend on golf courses rather than in shopping malls. Person: My husband. We are a rather strange couple - we spend so much time together but hardly ever argue. We genuinely enjoy each other's company. dora chan
