EMC Computer Systems aims to extend use of its data storage systems from mainframe and Unix computers to the Windows NT platform. A FIND/ SVP survey covering nearly 1,000 firms in 14 countries, found use of Windows NT is growing fastest in Hong Kong, where 92 per cent of respondents were implementing or planned to implement NT for key tasks. The global average is 83 per cent. EMC had offered products supporting NT platform since early this year, Bennett Lo, marketing manager for Greater China, said, adding that two types of NT user would require the product - those running highly confidential information and those with large NT sites with hundreds of servers. Windows NT was used in networks running multiple operating systems, which was common in Hong Kong, and often supported by EMC products, he added.
